One thing I've come to know about Mark is that he loves HOT food. According to him you know its really good when the back of your neck starts to sweat. I, on the other hand, don't like hot food. I can take a little spice but not very much!
Last night Mark and I went to the new Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in Cedar Falls to watch the UNI game. They were playing at Missouri State. Mark got the habanero wings and the spicy garlic wings. Lets just say that when the waitress brought them to the table they burned my nose hairs, that's how spicy they were. Mark even said wow I'm probably gonna pay for this tonight. Sure enough, in the middle of the night Mark started feeling sick. He was sick all night and all morning. I'm pretty sure that will be the last time he goes for one of the hottest wings.

Feeling Old
This is the second year in a row that Mark and I have had season tickets to the UNI Men's Basketball games. Last year was an amazing season, after all we did beat Kansas, and this year is turning out to be a pretty exciting season as well.
Last Saturday at the UNI vs Drake game, during one of the time outs, a song came over the loud system and all of a sudden the ENTIRE student section started doing this dance. Mark and I looked at each other as if the other one should know what this is, but sadly we didn't. We've only been out of college for 2 years! It amazed me how out of the loop we are.
The next day Mark searched the internet to see if he could find out what this dance is. It turns out a few RAs at Campbell Hall at UNI made up this dance. It's called the Interlude and it is the latest craze all over UNI and they're trying to get it to spread to other college campuses. I wouldn't want you to feel out of the loop so here is the youtube video on how to do the dance.
The Interlude Dance
On Wednesday UNI played Creighton. It was a really intense game and Mark knew they would do the dance again so he brought his video camera to record how awesome it is.

Thankful
Mark got home Tuesday night from his trip to Prague. It is so good to have him home again! Mark was only gone for 8 days but those 8 days seemed to take forever. Mainly because he was on the other side of the world which made it difficult to really communicate with each other because of the time difference. The few times we were able to chat over gmail or skype really helped make the time go faster.
I've always had a great appreciation for the men and women serving in the military! I now have an appreciation for their families as well. I'm sure having their loved ones gone for months on end is extremely difficult, not to mention the time difference and circumstances making communication extremely difficult. I know, that just as I.M. and Skype helped me while Mark was gone, those tools help these families so much more. Mark was only gone for 8 days, I can't even think of what it would be like knowing I wouldn't get to see him for months. To all the men and women who are serving and to those who have served, THANK YOU!!!! To all their families, thank you for always being there for them and being their incredible source of encouragement! Thank You!

Exhaustion
This week has been kind of a crazy one for me. As you know, by my last post, last week I wasn't feeling the best. Then last weekend Marks sister, Missy, got married. It was a beautiful wedding and Missy looked GORGEOUS!!! As you can imagine, weddings aren't exactly the best time to be sick or the best time to try and rest so you can get better. By the time we got home on Sunday I was completely exhausted, but I couldn't rest quite yet. Mark left Monday for a business trip in Prague, he doesn't get home until Tuesday, and I had lots of laundry to do so that he would be ready for his trip.
Mark left Monday. This is the longest he has ever been gone. I feel blessed that we've been able to email back and forth. Then yesterday I got a phone call from him and that made my day!!! I miss him so much! Every time he leaves I start having horrible dreams that something happens to him while he's gone. I usually wake up bawling my eyes out. Every time this happens I start praying, "Lord, I have no control. Mark is in your hands. Please be with him and protect him. Please Please Please bring him home to me safely." I know it is only by God's grace that we're even here and recognizing that helps comfort me, especially when Mark is gone. Every time I hear Mark's voice or when he comes home from a trip I thank God for protecting him and bringing him home to me.
I have been using his absence to catch up on my sleep. Every night, so far, I've been in bed by 9. I'm feeling much better and I'm finally getting my energy back and I don't have a cold anymore. Mark and my family always make fun of me for going to bed early, but this week I don't care. :)
Mark gets home Tuesday evening and lets just say Tuesday can't come soon enough!!!

Under the Weather
It seems like every time the seasons change I get sick, but so far this fall/winter I haven't and I've been very thankful for that. It was the week before Christmas and all of a sudden, it seemed like everyone I know was sick or someone they know got sick. I felt like I was bound to get sick even when I was trying so hard not to! I was getting extra sleep, drinking lots of water, and taking my vitamins but sure enough, Saturday morning I woke up with a sore throat and then Monday my nose started to get runny.
Yesterday I took the afternoon off so I could sleep to try and kick this thing in the butt before it gets any worse. I went home at noon and slept until 4 which I really needed. Mark brought me chicken noodle soup from Panera! He's so good to me!!! :) That was just what I needed. I'm feeling much better today, still a little tired but I'm hoping my cold doesn't get any worse because this weekend Marks sister, Missy, is getting married and I don't want to be the one in all the pictures with puffy eyes and a runny nose! gross! Plus, our niece Elli and our nephew Ethan will be there and I don't want to get them sick so I'm really hoping the worst is over so I can enjoy the weekend with family!

Time Flies
6 years ago I was 18 and a senior in high school and Mark was 16 and a sophomore in high school. It was 6 years ago today that Mark and I walked out of school together and he asked me to be his girl friend. I remember getting those butterflies in my stomach and being so incredibly excited. I remember the next day school was canceled because of snow. Mark came and picked me and my sister up in his big red dodge ram truck and we went sledding with some friends. :) The past 6 years has been amazing! Here's a look back at the past 6 years of our life together.
My senior year of high school the marching band to a trip to Colorado Springs. During the trip we took a cog train ride up a mountain.
Mark at I at his junior prom.
While attending UNI, Mark and I had the privileged of studying abroad in Poland for a summer with 13 other students. This is a picture from the farewell banquet that was held for all the students. During that same summer we went to Belgium with Mark's family and visited my family in Norway.
Mark and I at the UNI vs ISU football game. Mark and I have always enjoyed going to sporting events together. It all goes back to our time in high school when Mark played soccer and I was a cheerleader. Since graduating from UNI, Mark and I have enjoyed having season tickets for UNI Men's Basketball.
Awards ceremony before graduating from UNI.
The summer before we got married.
The week before our wedding, 4th of July!!
The best day of my life, July 11, 2009, the day I married the love of my life and my best friend.
The past 6 years have gone so fast and I've loved every minute of it! We've gone so many places and seen so many things. It has been the journey of a lifetime. I look forward to so many more years to come!!!!

Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year everyone!!! One of my New Years resolutions is to start a journal. However I can type much faster than I can write by hand. So I figured what better then to start a blog so family and friends can keep up to date on what's going on in our life.
Mark and I have been married for a year and a half now. We've done so much in that time and I always thought, surely I'll remember what I was thinking and how I felt when this happened. I was wrong and that's why I'm starting a blog, so that I can look back on our life together and remember things that I might not otherwise. I'm documenting our life together and I'm really excited!
